Keith Chu is a reporter based in Washington, D.C.
A native of Washington state, Keith has hooted for spotted owls as a wilderness ranger in the U.S. Forest Service, sat in on late-night rap sessions on a remote indian reservation, reported from inside the Boston Red Sox locker room and learned more than anyone should know about the Secure Rural Schools and County Self-Determination Act.
He opened the Washington bureau for Western Communications newspapers in 2007, and serves as bureau chief for the seven-paper chain, which includes The Bulletin in Bend, Ore., and The Daily Triplicate in Crescent City, Calif.
Keith's articles have appeared in Slate and the Los Angeles Times, and he has been a guest on Oregon Public Broadcasting's Think Out Loud.
Like a good northwest native, Keith loves hiking, strong coffee and good beer. He is lactose intolerant, but asks you don't hold that against him.
